Introduction

The Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices (TGFEP), formulated by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), sets out fair employment practices that should be adopted by employers to help prevent all forms of discrimination in the work place. This includes age, race, religion, language, gender, marital status and family responsibilities, disability and nationality. All firms must adhere with the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices and have fair employment practices that are open, merit-based, and nondiscriminatory.

The Fair Consideration Framework (FCF) sets out fair hiring requirements for all firms in Singapore to consider Singaporeans fairly for job opportunities in particular.

Employment agencies are expected to uphold the TGFEP. Should your clients ask you to practise discriminatory recruitment practices, you should advise them that this is unlawful.

To safeguard the interests of jobseekers, MOM will not hesitate to investigate Employment Agencies which are reported to have assisted any employer with unfair recruitment practices, even if these were carried out at the request of their clients.
