Who is covered?
- Any Employee working under a contract of service with an Employer
- Local and foreign Employees
- An Employee that is employed under the following terms:
- Full-time
- Part-time
- Temporary
- Contract
- An Employee that is paid on the following basis:
- Hourly
- Daily
- Monthly
- Piece-rated
Note: If an employee works less than 35 hours a week, he/she is considered a part-time employee covered by the Employment of Part-Time Employees Regulations. |
Who is not covered?
- Seafarer
- Domestic worker
- Statutory board Employee or Civil Servant
Since 1 April 2019, managers and executives earning above $4,500/month are covered under the Employment Act and are entitled to core provisions of the Employment Act, such as:
- Minimum 7-14 days paid annual leave
- Paid public holidays and sick leave
- Timely payment of salary
- Protection against wrongful dismissal
